The Nasty Whale was a bar where Brun used to bartend. It was nautically-themed, and featured a large painting of a boat behind the bar; Brun also kept a harpoon there for defense.[1] Barry was among the regulars.[2] Brun's apartment was located above the bar.[3]
Clinton came to the bar after a fight with Claire. Later that night, the bar and Brun's apartment were both destroyed in a fire.[4]
The name of the bar was confirmed by Elliot. It was also described as "sketchy" and "a dive".[5]
The bar's owner was strongly suspected of planning to take the insurance money and flee to Tahiti.[6] It is unknown whether the insurance actually paid out, given that the fire was eventually ruled to be caused by "gross existential negligence"—investigators having found so many fire hazards that a quantum tunneling event was judged sufficient to have started the blaze.[7]
